Or when Jimmy The Greek said that Black men were better athletes because they were “bred that way”, but were intellectually incapable of ever being quarterbacks or coaches.
While I'm sure it doesn't mean much, or little at all. Just wanted to say I am sorry. As a middle-aged white woman, living in the Midwest - I am disgusted by all of this. So I wanted you to know that I see you, and that I am sorry that this country is full of racist, bigoted, misogynistic (I could go on) assholes.
Christopher, I thoroughly enjoyed you sharing from your perspective. I went thru segregation and desegregation. It was so horrible to see what I saw as a child. Black people being killed, beaten with batons or whatever could be found. Now the perverted racists in charge wants to go back to those days. Oh hell no. I’m a middle aged white woman from Canada. I was a police officer for twenty years in Toronto. I cried when I saw those images of two of the most uniting, positively consequential WH occupants in Presidential history. I saw that the current President of the USA and his entire team were unapologetic about their racism and disgraceful behaviour. Yes, they were just telling the world who they were and nobody was surprised. Yet, the audacity of that moment; the blatant entitlement and harm caused- the hate propagated- was breathtaking. I cried. It compels much deeper consideration about the hate and how that will impact generations of people that are Black. The stark honesty of their ugliest instincts were grotesque. Also dangerous and enabling hate and division. It felt like it was the gateway to permit and encourage hate. The same as I felt when watching him escalate to Jan 6.
I took my kids to see the WH when the Obamas called it home. A long drive, and a worthwhile one. My girls needed to know that the world wasn’t as ugly anymore. The USA elected a Black man (and his absolutely brilliant wife) to serve the people. They did. Everyone. I’m glad I have those pictures. They’re 22 & 25 now and they remember the trip but they live in the hope that one day, someone else will step up and the people will help them rise.
I am deeply sorry that Black heroes are being dragged down by that dangerous clown. But, I am most stilled, gutted, and angry that Black people, and People of Colour are being targeted again. I send you and yours my love and ask that you stay safe always.
Yeah those of us in New York City knew he was a racist pos in the 80s. Sadly, I don't see this republican "change of heart" thing, people who call C-Span may be a poor barometer. His supporters will not change, what we see as awful, they crave. And even if a very small number of them do regret voting for trump, it's too little too late.

I’ve never understood Trump’s appeal. He’s always looked like a would-be playboy. In reality a smarmy & devious fame-junky. The racism, xenophobia & fascism make sense. Only 1/3 of the US population voted for him.
An overhaul of the voting system, starting with compulsory voting, a cap on donations & abolishing the electoral college is a good place to start. Love from Australia 🇦🇺❤️

We are human beings being scapegoated by a racist, bigoted nation. The others who aren't that way don't go out and bonk those assholes on their heads. It'll never go away because the people responsible to do that WON'T do it. They're afraid of them, and it does no good for Black people to show our disapproval.
